Through Comunicación A 6003 of the Argentine Republic´s Central Bank, dated July 1st, 2016, and effective from this very same day, the Central Bank extended to 365 calendar days the term to exchange into Argentine Pesos the foreign currency collected as payment of an export of services, or for the sale and transfer of “non financial non manufactured assets”. Until this Comunicación, the effective terms were 15 working days for the export of services (Comunicación A 5264) and 30 calendar days for “non financial non manufactured assets” (Comunicación A 4344).
As per this extension set forth by the Central Bank, exporters may keep abroad their collections of exports of services and “non financial non manufactured assets” transfers, for a 365 days term.
It is also effective the exporters` ability to nationalize their collections without exchanging them into Argentine Pesos, with a monthly limit of USD $ 5M, and as long as such nationalization (withouth exchange) is made within the term of 365 days, as now extended.
Once the 365 days term is expired, the exporter of services has the alternative to nationalize and exchange or nationalize keeping the foreign currency at an Argentine bank, without exchanging them, bearing in mind that for this second alternative, nationalization must be done within the 365 calendar days term.
The extended term shall be applicable to collections received from July 1st, 2016, as well as to collectiones made before that date, with their exchange term still pending, that means, collected after June 8, 2016 and not yet exchanged in Argentina.
